Even though I was pulling for the 49rs and then pulling for the Pats, I just knew the Giants would win...they're too lucky.

Reading online is now one of my addictions. I spend my whole morning having coffee and reading the news from around the world and of course our blog. If you had no reader's feedback, then it would be your blog. LOL.

Yes, I do take Sunday's off, and occassionally a Monday if I'm travelling - but appreciate people like you who are my faithful readers! So my massage therapist had a bunch of books on her book shelf and I saw other Kellerman novels - I'll look for the Alex Delaware series after this one - thanks for the tip! I actually hate reading on a computer - I just love the feel of a book in my hand. I'm so old school, but I think I may have to break down and get one one day :)

Flesh and Blood was OK. Kellerman's earlier Alex Delaware books were much better though. Have you thought about getting a Kindle? They work internationally and have a lot if free books that you can download. Thanks for the great daily ( or almost!) blog.

I encountered the "hole in the floor" toilets in Japan too, usually in karaoke bars. A bit difficult to squat over after a few Kirins!

They have the same type of toilets out in the countryside in France and Morocco was colonialized by the French years ago, hence the same type toilets, at least there was paper in France. ( I think it was Emery grade 3!!!) They also had a unique method of flushing, which was a chain with a handle that disappeared into the ceiling which you pulled on when leaving. There was a slight delay, sufficiently long enough to exit, then water came out from a pipe which went round the lower walls of the room and sprayed water all over the floor and went down the hole. There was a large sign on the wall explaining this procedure, unfortunately, of course, in French.
Many was the time that screams emanated from the interior and out came a red faced tourist soaked from the knees down!!!
The local yokels thought it was hilarious, as did we.

Yes, Sandy, I think population density definitely has to do with how friendly people are-was the same way where I was from in Oakland, a very large town! Wow, if I ever encountered a toilet like that, not sure how I'd react. I need to buck up if I expect to do any world travelling, for sure! I think I read where you said Panama had an issue w/ no toilet seats too when you recently visited. So odd to me.... Thanks for the story!

I agree, Fred. I'd rather live somewhere small and friendly and go travel to get the things I need from time to time. You made me chuckle with the toilet seat - can just see me sauntering into a restaurant with one under my arm, haha!!

A couple of things I wanted to comment on..
About friendliness: the size of the city may have something to do with it. I notice that many people that live in big cities are not very friendly. Not all, but many I have encountered.
About bathroom equipment: When we went to Morocco (where Phil was born) imagine my surprise when many of the bathrooms didn't even HAVE toilets--just a hole in the toilet cubicle's floor. Usually tile surrounding it and to places to put your feet on each side of the hole so you don't slip in. No toilet paper, but a spigot of water and a bucket were supplied (The spigot to wash your nether regions and the bucket to fill and toss down the hole). There were western-style toilets in some places, but many were just "the hole". LOL!!!
